In the twilight of MMORPG goliaths such as W.O.W. there comes a time for revolution. As more and more MMO games enter the uncertain waters of free to play, pay to play, pay for items and COMPLETELY SHIPWRECK, one might start to long for a simpler time, a time of 8-bit game classics like GAUNTLET and DUNGEON EXPLORER.
So what do you get when you take the jaded world of MMORPGs, smash it into some atari style pizza arcade dungeon exploring, then add a little 1942 for seasoning?
What you get is Realm of the Mad God.
So if you're a nostalgic old fuck like me you might want to strap on your grandpa diapers and get ready to shit your pants in excitement. It's like playing at an arcade where every machine in the building is playing the same game. Just imagine an arcade machine that looks something like this:

x9,000 (imagine something like x-men arcade)

How cool would this be?!
If your answer is not that cool at all, there are always games with immersive intertextual worlds like this. Hours of philosophical enjoyment.
Or you could play a game like Realm of the Mad God where the plot line is a lot more straight forward: There is a pissed off god, you are in its realm, kill it. THE END.
